[color=navy][font=Arial]Hey guys these are just a few images of a coffee table i made for the Interior Block Course, the top is floating using 'rare earth magnets' , if anyone has any ideas of where i could take this concept it would be great

Pretty sweet, maybe experiment with movement in with the magnets? Or maybe the position of the Magnets?
have you done pricing on it and worked out a trade price u could sell it at?

there are a few gallerys around that'd be probally be keen for that kinda thing.
Na i havnt done any pricing on it . . Wouldnt know where to start to be honest . . Wat sort of galleries bro ? That would be mean
My boss gave me a sweet way to work out an approximate (Retail) value based on just making the 'one' table or item, the way the company i work for does.

Ill have to re-check just to make sure i got the order right though.

Material cost (M) x Labour of skilled people like us x the time taken to build, hourly rate (Hr) x Hours (H) then a mark-up of 100% of the total.

So.

  M + (Hr x H) = (X) x2 = Retail Price

example.

$450 + ($20 x 33) = $1110 x2 = $2220.00

baring in mind these are random values and my work is well established and able to pull it off, were just punks (for now) so we got to lower it a fair bit to get our name out there.
Thanks bro, will have a go pricing it . . dont really wanna sell it though
Dont think i could pull off putting a 100% mark up on it . .
Trust me - You could probably pull off a 300% mark up. You could price this say at $600 and probably sell it, however if you bump it up to $900 people THINK and see it as a $900 table, especially if theres only one of them.

Charge $25 an hour.

I approached AVID gallery down by Hogland art glass near the library to take some photos of my table I made for furn 1 last year, they were pretty receptive, wanted to have it in the shop, but were relocating and didn't have any space due to the exhibition they were running.

Apartmento on thorndon quay just down from EEC also like seeing student work - they were keen for me to get the table to them to have in the showroom . . . . however I was leaving welly that day.

I did a presentation with some sweet photos and a some info about the table which was a good supplement. Think about how you would present it . .

My thoughts, (tables looks good by the way)

yeah you should try to get all the exposure you can, it wouldn't hurt one bit. You might be surprised by what you get from doing it.
Thanks Hayden, Ill definetly look into that place in thorndon, yeah when i did mi presentation for interior i made up all there board with reasoning and photography so i think ill just reprint those . . I wouldnt be complaining if i got 300% mark up . . dunno if id have the balls to do it tho

thanks for the help bro
Hey bro just curious on what type and how many magnets you used to support that weight, where you got them from and how much (each). Im gonna rip your concept off thats why I ask.... Kidding, did a project when I was at vic making a maglev air-hockey type table where the puck levitated. Magnet cost was quite high (they were NeobidiumIronboron magnets).
